#Community Connect: Teaching students ‘coding’

August 20, 2013
This week on Community Connect Simon leads the presentation and we will take a look at the growing support to teach all kids coding. In recent years there has been an amazing increase in tools to allow students to learn coding. We will also explore some benefits of teaching kids to code, which leads some to argue that coding is an essential skill just like learning to write. In this session we are going to explore these ideas and some of the great tools that move past just typing up code to experimenting with creativity, logic and fun.
As a taster, check out the TED video from Mitch Resnick called “Let’s teach kids to code” –http://www.ted.com/talks/mitch_resnick_let_s_teach_kids_to_code.html
