Becoming literate in a media rich world – children’s out of school experiences and their role in the classroom

About this session: Teachers have long acknowledged the importance of children’s experiences in the formative pre-school years in helping develop literacy skills. However what counts as literacy and the diversity of experiences that children bring to school is changing with the increasing media rich world that technology enables.Children’s out of school experiences and their role in the classroom will be discussed.
